A scholarship for up to $30,000 in tuition support towards special education licensure at Portland State University. Undergraduate and Graduate options are available.

Requirements

Eligible candidates must: 

​

  • Have experience or desire to work with students with disabilities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in literacy

​

  • Have a linguistically diverse background, and/or unique skills to serve culturally or linguistically diverse students with disabilities

​​

  • Be committed to teaching as a special educator​

​​

  • Apply and be admitted into one of the Portland State University program options:

​​

  1. Undergraduate Special Educator

  2. Graduate Special Educator

  3. Inclusive Elementary Educator Program

  4. Secondary Dual Educator Program

  5. Added Endorsement [AddSPED]

Eligible candidates need to be able to provide evidence for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that the individual is (i) A lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (ii) In the United States for other than a temporary purpose with the intention of becoming a citizen or permanent resident.

Requirements Include:

  • Monthly Saturday meetings 2-3 hours

  • Maintain good academic standing

  • Engage in coaching and advisement meetings monthly 

  • Participate in a summer clinical literacy experience
